Beyond the compasses




  


The rotating hyperboloid is a surface generated by two sets of lines. In the exhibit, these are represented by the white and black threads.
While rotating the upper plexiglas circle with the special handle, these families of lines generate differently shaped hyperboloids until they become degenerated cone and cylinder forms.
